Process

Pre-Construction

For Existing Designs, the pre-construction focus is on finalizing all of the decisions, including working with our design team on the final set of structural options, selections and finishes. We then schedule a pre-construction meeting to review all of the information.

For Custom homes, a construction bid set of plans must first be completed. Finalizing the bid set of construction plans is completed prior to signing a sales agreement. With the help of our in-house architect, K Homes will help you develop the bid set of plan for your home. This bid set will allow K Homes to generate an accurate quote to build your house with all of K Homes’ high quality standard features. The cost for these preliminary building plans is $3,000 and is applied toward the final price of the home. After the sales agreement is signed, we schedule a pre-construction meeting to review all of the information one more time. Following this, we will apply for a building permit—which usually is received within one to two weeks.

Construction

Construction takes about 150 days. Two months prior to the completion of your home, we will give you a completion date so that you can begin planning for the closing. Construction scheduling includes:

  • Visiting the building site
  • Pre-drywall walk-through
  • Weekly updates from the superintendent
  • Home orientation and final walk-through
